Long-Distance Bootcamp Golf® Training
First, the agreement. Agree to the Bootcamp Golf “Pre-Induction” statements (see book). Ten in all. Much to do with eighty-sixing (dispensing) all the quick fix propaganda and agreeing to the long term, one step at a time, sustained/correct/repetitive, and “it ain’t learned till it’s learned.” How long does it take? As long as it takes. Rocket science? Nope—pretty much motor learning science understandings dating back to the beginning of time.
Second, enlistment. You sign up for 20-week increments and reup each 20 weeks. Most that enlist come to understand that changing 640 muscle patterns requires a very structured, sustained process. This is super simple (not easy), super structured, super convenient, super self-consciousLESS, and super effective. And, by the way, it becomes super fun—though not until you grasp what changing, correcting, and habituating honestly means.
Third, technology. Simple. Free. No frills. Rum-dumb basic tech stuff your great-grandmother can manage. You’ll forward a weekly video conveying your progress. Never to exceed two swings. That said, this not about technology. It’s not about state-of-the-art, bells and whistles, one-upping your cronies with cool tech. This is about the 90/10 rule (90% practice, 10% stuff). Then it’s about for as long as it takes. Then it’s about “it ain’t learned till it’s learned.” Ultimately it’s about practice genius status—a rare commodity.
Fourth, practice. Your home. A private corner of your home. A room you frequent every day. Make that nine days a week (i.e., a lot). No phones. No texts. No TV. No distractions. Convenient. Accessible. Comfortable. So comfortable that you may end up practicing in your pajamas with a cup of coffee (i.e., self-consciousLESS). It is a minimal space requirement, since you’ll be practicing with no ball. You simply need enough room to swing a wedge in a half-swing measure. Training aids should be readily available. Swing thoughts should be readily available. A timer should be readily available (psst….to limit your training—bet you never heard that line before). In six months you’ll come to understand this indoor, bare-bones, no-ball-banging, minimal-space practice happens to be the industry’s best driving range facility times a hundred. Huh? Worry not, just anticipate lots and lots of learning, lots and lots of epiphanies, lots and lots of challenges, lots and lots of questions, lots and lots of answers. You’ll feel muscles you’ve never felt before. Lots. Be assured that Bootcamp Golf at-home training, once you’re genuinely in it to win it, becomes a twenty on the Richter scale of simple/fun/effective.
Fifth, the endgame. Sustain the program and you become a practice genius, thus you become a swing fundamental genius, thus you become best positioned to take your game to the next level, then the next, then the next.
Easy? Nope. Simple/fun/effective? Yep.
